How to install Android 2.2 on i8000 My Storage (安裝Android 2.2 在I8000 內置儲存教程)

Before you go on, make sure you have downloaded the files below.

Please remember, for safety reasons, backup all your data first before you go through this.

Android 2.2 download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?oy8c33kxxel5u7q

New 2D/3D library (You need to download a new 2D/3D library for Android 2.2 or you will get into a loop said "request_suspend_state: wakeup " when installing Android 2.2)
http://www.mediafire.com/?2vh9py7v9pgwonc

We are going to do this in linux. Therefore, either you got a Linux machine or you can install a Linux in VMware. In this tutorial, I will show you how to do it in VMware. First, unzip the "froyo_beta1_1024.zip" and copy "o2b3update.tar.gz" to "My Storage" on you mobile.

Copy ext4.tar.gz and o2b3update.tar.gz from my storage to ubuntu Desktop.
Then follow the video below.

If you don't get the right name for the boot partition in startup.txt. Your phone with stop at the screen below when you run haret.exe.

Now you can get the name and change it in startup.txt. ALL DONE and you should be able to boot in android which is installed on your internal storage.

FEEL the Difference from install on SD card!!!!!

  3. To Shun Chin: I haven't got any problem with android market yet. But there is a method to fix the market problem. Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12993079&postcount=2

To Badman_42: Are you trying to install android on my storage? Have you got a picture for that problem?

  4. To shun chin: HAHA, I just realized that you are the owner of that post. Have you try to run market again? sometimes I experience error at the first time running the market.

  7. Do you use the haret.exe from the O2BETA folder or just the one in My Storage?

First install got stuck on the green android. 2nd install keep having to pull the battery on freezes....

  8. another qouestion ... i've conected my o2 with ubuntu .. now i've two filesistem folders.. which i shoul take for the partition?...(537mb filesysem or the 7.7gb filesystem)
    please help

  9. to badman: try to format the partition and reinstall again. I haven't got the problem come up yet, so I don't know what is causing that. For more information, you can try modaco.com or forum.xda-developers.com

to daniel: I use the haret.exe from my storage. U said first time you stuck on the green android. do you remember how long? coz it normally take more time at the first start up.

to abbcdd: 1.so the wifi is connected and you can surf the internet? but can't download anything? 2. you got a 8 GB internal storage, right? did you re-size the storage with 537MB ext4 partition and 7.7gb fat32 partition? it is better if you could get a picture for you partition table.

    ReplyDelete
  10. 1.yes the wifi is turned on and conectet ..i can surf in the internet but can't download..
    2.yes it's an 8GB internal storage...
so far I have only format the 8GB to fat32...
and nothing else ... the 537MB partition was already there ...
here is the link to the picture of the partition maker: http://s1.directupload.net/images/110501/658rsqp3.png

    sorry for my nooby questions..

  12. should i select the primary parti. or can let logical parti.?
because i can't select the first one

    ReplyDelete
  13. to abbcdd: if the 537MB partition is already there, i suggest you don't touch it. just re-size 7.13GB partition will be ok. for the android partition, 1-2GB will be enough.

to bigfarhad: you should select the primary partition. If you can't I afraid you need to format and re-partition you the internal storage.(will lose data on you storage)

  14. hey jerry, already tried those method, still unable to open Market, and one thing I remember, I had this problem of signing in at first boot to my Google Account, it seems that it stucks there for very long and then not able to log in. I used Youtube to login my account instead.

  15. Hi Jerry, thanks for the post.

I have the same problem as abbcdd. But I changed the FAT32 partition size and I have unlocated 1GB. But when I try to create a new partition with the unlocated 1GB, I can't select the primary partition option, just let me select the logical partition. Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced and sorry for my bad english :S

  16. To shun chin: I see. Do you think whether update the android market.apk will help?

To Martrix: Is your original fat32 partition a logical partition? I'll try once in my mobile to see what happen.

    ReplyDelete
  17. don't think it's something wrong with the market...it's the signing in problem, can't even sign in on the welcome screen.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I have a problem the same with MATRIXX
    why? pls help.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Jerry,

Yes, my original FAT32 partition is a logical partition into the extended partition. Exactly the same as the first photo uploaded by abbcdd.

    Regards,
    Martín

  21. HI,

i am not getting an option to seelct ext4, i get ext2 and ext3. please help

    ReplyDelete
  22. to martrix n abbcdd: I found out that if you got a "extend" label on the storage, and your original fat32 is logical partition, You cannot re-size a primary ext4 partition. However, I try to install android on a logical ext4 partition. It work as well. If you can't choose primary, just select logical partition will be ok. Cheers

I think you formatted your whole storage as one ext4 partition, thats why you can't find your fat32.

    @ EltoXxXic

  45. @i'm muslim
yes, of coz you can install without using the ubuntu. All u need is a tool which can unzip tar.gz format and to re-partition the memory card into ext3 or4 format.

    @dedys
just reformat the card into fat 32, and the android will gone. what do u mean by all unlock?

  65. Hi guys, I found that (at least in my phone) if you have the SD in you phone, the partition names are mmcblk1pX for "My storage" and mmcblk0pX for your SD card. But if you take the SD card out, the partitions are now mmcblk0pX for your "My storage" and.... well there´re no SD partition.
I couldn´t get Android to work fom My storage, no matter how many combination of "root=mmcblk1pX" I tried. Now I know it would never work because I didn´t have the SD car in.
So, basicaly it goes like this:

SD card IN: mmcblk0 is SD card and mmcblk1 is internal storage.
SD card OUT: mmcblk0 is internal storage.
